This Washington DC Surprise Proposal is everything.
Matthew approached me a few weeks before he wanted to propose to ensure I was available to capture the moment for them. You may remember Matthew and Ashley – I did couple photos of them in the Spring, click here to see that session. So, Matthew had the perfect excuse for this session – another ‘styled shoot’.
The days leading up to this were gloomy. The morning of the session it was raining a lot, but we held out until the last minute. As you can see, the rain stopped, the sun broke through the cloud cover, and the sun showed up for their special moment! It couldn’t have been more perfect.
Matthew and I discussed the plan ahead of time, when he arrived I would ask for him to empty his pockets into my bag, that way he wouldn’t have things sticking out funny for photos. Little did Ashley know, this is when he slipped me the ring. He had given me the ring box a few days in advance.
We did a few photos before I gave him the signal. I didn’t want it to be too obvious. I asked them to pose back to back – ‘adjusted’ Matthew, handed him the ring and here we are!
Matthew arrange for a friend to come with champagne.
Matthew looked a little nervous going into this, planning a surprise is no easy task but he pulled it off!
Ashley, of course, said “Yes!”.
The ring fit perfectly (nice job Matthew!).
Matthew made dinner reservations at The Hay Adams, ya know, the one overlooking the White House, for after the proposal. 🙂
Now, these two are getting married next year! Congratulations Matthew and Ashley!
